Thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, and all those who participated in this year's Walk. Thanks to you, we will be able to provide food for an additional 350,000 meals with the proceeds of this year's Hunger Walk.

Each year, this event raises money for our most economically fragile neighbors, (half of whom are children,) for life’s most basic necessity: FOOD! This year, you can register for the event, create an online fundraising team, and collect donations via email by using our online registration option. Or, simply send us your name and address to have a registration/pledge form sent to you in the mail.

DESCRIPTION: The Westside Food Bank’s annual walk-a-thon and kick-off for our holiday food drive attracts hundreds of participants from companies, churches, schools, non-profit agencies and the community at large. This walk-a-thon is a fun way to spend the afternoon with co-workers, family and friends while helping our less fortunate neighbors right here in our own community. There will be food, drink, entertainment, games, a "moonbounce" for the kids and fabulous raffle prizes. All ages welcome, including stroller parents and dogs on leashes. Plus, for every $100 you collect in donations, you will be entered in a drawing for a fabulous week-long Hawaiian vacation for two! (Details below)

WHAT: WESTSIDE FOOD BANK'S ANNUAL 5k HUNGER WALK

WHEN: Sunday, October 28th, 2007 @ 12:30 p.m. / Walk begins at 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Santa Monica High School (Science Quad) 601 Pico Blvd. Santa Monica

(Course runs along the beautiful streets and beaches of Santa Monica.)

WHY: To help fight hunger in our community.

WHO BENEFITS: Over 82,000 of our most economically fragile neighbors, many of whom cannot afford both groceries and rent. Since people must eat, our supplemental food—which they can obtain absolutely free of charge at local social service agencies—is often the only thing standing between them and homelessness. Nearly half of the recipients of our food are children whose health, development, and academic performance are at risk. The proceeds from last year’s Hunger Walk enabled us to provide enough food for an astonishing 300,000 meals! From La Brea to the Ocean, in a community where so many have so much, local families and individuals need help putting food on the table. Thank you for your support.
